KUALA KUBU BAHARU: Voters have begun arriving at SJKC Khing Ming, one of the 18 polling centres in Kuala Kubu Baharu ahead of the by-election today.

Among those who had arrived early was first time voter, 19-year-old Form Six student, Yap Yu Heng.

"I arrived here at 7.50am today to cast my vote as I have a school programme later.

He said that as it is his first time, he had researched about the candidates who are contesting in the by-election.

"I know that there are four candidates contesting. I did my research ahead of time.

"My hope for the candidate who will be the assemblyman is that they will continue to promote and improve Kuala Kubu Baharu in being a tourist destination," he said.

The by-election, will see a four-cornered fight involving Pakatan Harapan's Pang Sock Tao, Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut, Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia), and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.

It was called due to the death of the incumbent, Lee Kee Hiong, 58, on March 21 from cancer.
