JOHOR BARU: Undocumented migrant workers fled from a wet market here today, mistakenly believing an Immigration raid was underway.

The fact is, the uniformed officers at the Tampoi wet market are from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.

They were conducting an operation to ensure compliance with pricing regulations, said state director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo.

The foreign workers abandoned their stalls when they saw Lilis Saslinda talking to traders.

She was questioning them about the absence of price labels for their vegetables.

"Our focus today are the prices and to ensure traders display price tags," she said.

"We are not here to apprehend foreign workers."

The ministry, she added, wanted to prevent arbitrary price increases and protect consumers.
