BALING: A 29-year-old factory operator died in a road accident involving his motorcycle and two other vehicles at Kampung Bakong, Jalan Parit Panjang here today.

The deceased, identified as Muhammad Hafizuddin Hashim, died on the spot after sustaining severe head injuries.

Baling police chief Superintendent Shamsudin Mamat said police received distress calls about the accident involving a Yamaha Y15ZR, Perodua Bezza, and a Proton Preve at 5.45pm.

"The deceased was traveling from Kampung Asam Jawa towards Parit Panjang. A Proton Bezza was moving in the same direction, while a Proton Preve was coming from the opposite direction.

"The deceased, who was traveling behind the Perodua Bezza, lost control and collided with the right rear of the car. This caused the motorcycle to fall in the middle of the road, and the deceased was thrown into the opposite lane.

"The deceased was then run over by the Proton Preve coming from the opposite direction. As a result of the accident, the deceased sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot," he said in a statement today.

He added that checks also found that the deceased had no license and his motorcycle road tax had expired.

He also said that early investigations indicated that the accident was caused by the deceased's negligence.

"Preliminary investigations suggest the accident occurred because the deceased did not maintain a safe distance, lost control, and collided with the vehicle in front, leading to the accident.

He said the body was sent to Kulim Hospital for a post-mortem, while others involved in the accident escaped unscathed.
