KUALA LUMPUR: A crime analyst has proposed that the government consider reducing the number of social media platforms accessible to

Malaysians for better monitoring purposes.

Shahul Hamid Abdul Rahim said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) should study on the need for the country to limit the number of social media platforms in light of the many 3R (race, religion, royalty) cases and scam activities on these platforms.

"We may need to consider reducing the number of social media platforms that we have (access to).

"We have (access to) too many (of them) that it is hard for the authorities to monitor all of them," he told the New Straits Times.
