KUALA LUMPUR: All Monorail services between the Hang Tuah and Medan Tuanku stations have been suspended temporarily due to a fallen tree which smashed onto the monorail track today.

In a statement today, RapidKL advised passengers to use alternative services in the interim and apologised for the inconvenience.

The alternative services are LRT KL Sentral/MRT National Museum from KL Sentral; LRT Hang Tuah from the Hang Tuah station; MRT Bukit Bintang from the Bukit Bintang station, LRT Dang Wangi from the Bukit Nanas station and LRT and MRT Titiwangsa from the Titiwangsa station.

Earlier today, a thunderstorm caused an uprooted tree on Jalan Sultan Ismail to smash into the KL Monorail track and damaged several cars causing major traffic congestion.

The incident was captured on video opposite the Concorde Hotel. The video has since gone viral.

Several cars can be seen trapped under the fallen tree with drivers seen exiting their vehicles.
