SUBANG: Hulu Selangor Science School (SEMASHUR) are ready to spring an upset and are unafraid or preceding reputations when they take on Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) for the 2018 Chairman of Malaysia Airports Challenge Cup at the Proton Sports Complex in Proton City, Tanjung Malim, Perak, today.

SEMASHUR team captain, Muhammad Naufil Syahmi Jamaludin said they plan to make as much of an impact as they possibly can as this is the first time that their team has progressed to the final.

“This is our first time playing in the final, and I hope we can also win it on our first appearance in the final, to make history for SEMASHUR. Even though it’s our first time, but it shouldn’t be a problem because we’ve been playing together as a team since we were 13-years-old, and will work collectively together to topple MCKK.”

“We lost in the league but that was a turning point for us, and this time round we will fight until the final whistle blows. Win or lose, that’s the nature of the game,” he said.

Meanwhile, MCKK head coach, Mohd Romli Saad said his team have vowed to make amends this year after they were defeated by Victoria Institution (VI) 10-8 last year.

He said, the quality of play has improved in terms of tactics, but teams can only have the upper hand if they avoid making mistakes during play.

The winner of the challenge will walk away with the coveted trophy and RM5,000 prize purse, while the runners-up will receive RM3,000.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) are the main sponsors of the tournament that saw seven rugby 15s teams participate in this year’s edition.
