KUALA LUMPUR: Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) reclaimed the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) Premier Sevens title in style today.

SSTMI defeated defending champions SMK Jalan Tiga 36-5 in the final at the MCKK school grounds in Kuala Kangsar.

SSTMI piled on the pressure from the opening whistle and held a comfortable 24-0 lead by half time. They continued their momentum in the second half.

It is SSTMI's fifth Premier Sevens title having previously lifted the NJ Ryan Trophy in 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2017.

SMK Jalan Tiga's Anas Zulqarnain Mizan was awarded the Zaharuddin Alias Best Player Award.

Malaysia Pahang Sports Sport (SSMP) finished third overall after beating SMK Tun Hussein Onn 10-5 in the playoff.

SSTMI had earlier beaten SSMP 12-0 in the semi-finals while SMK Jalan Tiga had defeated SMK Tun Hussein Onn 19-14 to advance to the final.

A total of 24 teams had competed in the 12th edition of the Premier Sevens this year.
