KUALA LUMPUR: Four Olympics-bound professional athletes from Malaysia will receive a total RM300,000 grant from the Sports Ministry.

They are independents shuttlers Lee Zii Jia and Goh Jin Wei, and professional golfers Gavin Green and Ashley Lau.

The grant, disbursed by the Sports Ministry through the National Sports Council (NSC), is to help them prepare for this month's Olympic Games in Paris.

This support will enable them to participate in qualifying tournaments, exposure competitions, training camps, and receive support services, ensuring they are optimally prepared for the greatest show on Earth.

In a statement today, the NSC highlighted the Sports Ministry's commitment to supporting Malaysian athletes.

"We are dedicated to providing our athletes not only with essential services from the National Sports Institute, but also with financial assistance from the government. We want our athletes to embark on their journey with full backing from both the government and the nation," said Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.
