KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actress Janna Nick's doesn't not want to forget her roots and is putting in effort to give back to the place where she spent time as a child growing up.

"I used to live and grow up in that kampung. So, I want to help, and at the same time I invite my followers to participate and contribute wholeheartedly," she said in a Harian Metro report yesterday.

The 29-year-old artiste, whose real name is Nurul Jannah Muner, said this in relation to the development of the Nurul Jannah Tahfiz & Orphanage Complex at Kampung Bukit Kechil Mosque in Simpor, Kedah.

She added that all donations from the public were channeled directly to the mosque's account.

"I lived there from the age of 11 until I was in Form Three. In fact, my grandparents and most of my relatives came from there.

"So, this is my initiative as a former resident of the kampung since 2022. I do not take any credit for this effort, for me this is the effort of the public, the mosque, and all parties.

"Because of that, I use social media platforms to spread the word and invite people to do charity and contribute towards goodness.

"All donations go directly to the mosque's account," she said.

According to Janna, the donations received were also used for the improvement of the mosque, while part of the donated money had already been used to build a dining hall for tahfiz students.

"In fact, the hall is also for the use of the mosque personnel to generate more income to be channeled to the process of building the tahfiz complex.

"The people of the mosque there, if there is any event, they don't use the donation money but they do something to generate other forms of income, for example, they make kerisik and sell them," she said.
