KUBANG PASU: Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor is ready to take up PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli's challenge to report corruption allegations involving PKR and DAP members.
However, Sanusi, who is Perikatan Nasional's election director, said he will file the report with MACC at his discretion, not by Rafizi's suggested deadline.
He said that the report would be lodged strategically to catch the alleged wrongdoers off guard.
"I will lodge the report with MACC when the time is right... let them be complacent first, let them jump around and dive into wells... if I lodge the report now, they will have time to cover their tracks. I'll let them be 'ralit' (off guard) first," he said during a press conference after presenting keys to Rumah Sejahtera recipients in Binjai today.
On Sunday, Rafizi, who is also Economy Minister, challenged Sanusi to lodge a report following the latter's claim of graft involving those in PKR and DAP.
Rafizi said Sanusi, when launching the Perikatan Nasional election machinery on Saturday night, claimed that his plans to further develop Kedah could not proceed due to issues with approvals, alleging that there were those in PKR and DAP who solicited bribes for projects.
It was also reported that Sanusi implied that Penang authorities were racially discriminating against people in Sungai Bakap over water supply issues and he offered to sell water from Kedah to Penang.
Rafizi said if Sanusi's claims were true, he should lodge a report with the MACC on Monday.
Meanwhile, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil criticised Sanusi over his comments on Penang's water issues, describing his conduct as "very problematic" and potentially racist and seditious.
Responding to Fahmi's criticism, Sanusi said he did not understand how his remarks could be interpreted as racist and seditious.
"I don't understand his point. Let it be, on TikTok, people only criticise him... The offer I made that night was sincere because we (Kedah) have previously channeled water into Penang. The pipes are still there, just turn on the pipes and pay," he added.
Commenting on the Rumah Sejahtera initiative, Sanusi said that 50 recipients will benefit from the federal government and Kedah State Development Corporation (PKNK) funded housing initiative.
"The federal government allocated RM5,169,900 for this project. However, the total cost was RM5,712,655. This means PKNK covered the additional costs to ensure the project's success. These houses are sold to buyers at only RM36,000 per unit, which is much lower than the actual market price," he added.
