SHAH ALAM: A comedian and his wife have been remanded for two days starting today to assist in investigations related to the spread of the police's internal information via the Telegram application.

A source told Harian Metro that the 38-year-old comedian and his 37-year-old wife were detained at the Section 9 police station here at 7pm yesterday.

Their mobile phones were also seized to help in the investigation.

"Both were brought to the Shah Alam court today to obtain a remand order," the source said.

Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed their arrest.

The case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 14 of the Minor Offenses Act.

Writings involving the Shah Alam district police headquarters and a photo of a visit conducted by Bukit Aman Logistics and Technology Department director Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan to the district police headquarters, had earlier gone viral on Telegram.
