KUALA KUBU BARU: DAP's Pang Sock Tao today pledged to give her best service to the constituents of Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) if given the mandate to represent the constituency.

Following Pakatan Harapan's announcement to field Pang in the KKB by-election, Pang hoped that her six years of experience in politics and holding positions in two different ministries will help her to bring positive development to KKB.

"The late KKB assemblywoman Lee Kee Hiong was a mentor to many Dapsy (DAP Youth wing) and she was a representative that has set a high standard for everyone, including myself.

"Therefore, if given the chance, I want to continue Lee's legacy to provide the best service to the people of KKB.

"I believe my involvement and experience in both the Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Ministry and Housing and Local Government Ministry will inspire me to bring positive development to KKB."

Earlier, PH announced that it will field Pang for the KKB by-election scheduled to take place on May 11.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the decision to field Pang, who is also the press secretary to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming, was finalised after considering all qualifications possessed by Pang.

The Election Commission (EC) has fixed May 11 for the KKB by-election following the death of its incumbent Lee on March 21.

Meanwhile, nomination day is set for April 27, with early voting on May 7.

In the Selangor state election last year, Lee helped DAP to retain Kuala Kubu Baharu after she polled a majority of 4,119 votes in a four-cornered fight at the state seat.

Present during the announcement tonight were DAP chairman Lim Guang Eng; PKR vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari; Deputy Works Minister and Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.

Also present were DAP Selangor chairman Gobind Singh Deo; Amanah election director Mohd Sany Hamzan:  Education Minister and PKR Women chief Fadhlina Sidek; Human Resources Minister Steven Sim and Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
