KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu City Hall has announced the "Kampungku Bersih" challenge in conjunction with the 24th anniversary of Kota Kinabalu's city status.

The city hall, in a Facebook post on Feb 5, said that the "Kampungku Bersih" challenge is set to offer a grand prize of RM20,000 to the cleanest village, with significant cash awards for the runners-up as well.

The first runner-up stands to win RM12,000, the second runner-up RM8,000, and other notable prizes ranging from RM1,000 to RM500 for the 4th to 10th places, respectively.

"It's simple. Cooperate as a community to beautify your village and stand a chance to win cash prizes of up to RM20,000!" the post said.

Community spirit and cooperation are at the heart of this challenge, as it aims to not only beautify the villages but also to foster a sense of unity and pride among the residents.

The contest, which extends until March 3, will culminate in an exciting award announcement on Mar 9 during a special closing ceremony at Palm Square, Centre Point.

Villages interested in participating are urged to register promptly and start mobilising their cleanliness and beautification efforts.

This competition not only incentivises village cleanliness through cash rewards but also aims to instil long-term habits of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility.
