PAGOH: Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) recently launched its dual Merdeka Day celebrations at its Pagoh and Batu Pahat campuses.

As one enters the UTHM campus in Pagoh, one will find the grounds lined with the Jalur Gemilang and the Johor state flag.

Assoc Prof Ts Dr Kamarulzaki Mustafa, who is UTHM Pagoh Provost and also chairman of the Technical Management of Pagoh Higher Education Hub, said the main objective of the double celebrations were for them to continue appreciating what Merdeka stood for and to nurture patriotism.

"We want to nurture this appreciation in the hearts of our more than 17,000 students and foster the spirit of patriotism in them," said Kamarul.

UTHM vehicles were also fixed with the Malaysian flag and visitors received one each as they entered the Pagoh and Batu Pahat campuses.

Being one of the first universities to launch the Merdeka celebration campaign, UTHM also introduced its Global Technopreneur programme to train and equip future entrepreneurs to achieve financial and career independence.
