MUAR: Following numerous campaigns and awareness programmes, 43.7 per cent of the population here has been fully vaccinated.

Bukit Kepong state assemblyman Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal said from approximately 127,897 residents here, 90.9% have received their first dose and 43.7% completed both doses as of August 16.

"This is the highest among all the districts in Johor," he said.

He said collaboration between federal and state agencies such as the district office, Muar Municipal Council and District Health Department, along with private companies and non-governmental organisations (NGO) have made these achievements possible.

Additionally, he said with help from the National Heart Institute, PPV mobile units started vaccinations at Felcra Bukit Kepong on a three-day schedule basis.

"Muar is the first among other districts in Johor which began this initiative with just one bus and now, three mobile units are serving more remote areas," said Sahruddin.

He said the mobile facilities complemented the three permanent PPVs in Muar located at Jubli Intan Mega Hall; Pagoh Sports Complex and Sungai Belalang.

"We are on course to achieve our 100 per cent vaccination target and full herd immunity soon," he added.

Sahrudin also thanked Muar District Officer, Mustaffa Kamal Shamsuddin; Head of Muar Municipal Council, Jamil Hasni Abdullah; and Head of Muar District Health Department, Dr. Noorhaida Ujang for all their support.

"I also extend my appreciation to all frontliners and all Muar residents for their help and cooperation," he said.

He urged Muar folks to complete their vaccinations at the nearest available PPVs the soonest possible.
