TAPAH: The search and rescue operation to locate another two siblings who were swept away by a water surge in Sungai Kenjur near Kampung Poh, Bidor, continues at 8am today.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon said the operation involved a total of 50 rescuers from various agencies, led by the department and K-9 unit.

Sayani said rescuers would focus on the search technique following the flow of the river downstream, within a radius of six kilometers from the victims' picnic location.

"Rescuers are divided into five locations that have been identified, with each group covering one kilometer.

"Two boats from Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Tapah and Slim River each are stationed at BBP Bidor here for operational use," she said.

Yesterday, it was reported that the family's picnic plan turned into tragedy when the mother was found dead, while three of her children went missing in the water surge tragedy.

The body of Aszura Bani, 37, was found at about 4.30pm yesterday, and about five hours later, her son's body, Hafif Muhayat Azam, 4, was found by villagers.

Two of her children, Hanna Mikayla Azam, 7, and Hanum Marissa Azam, 2, are still missing.

Besides them, three other individuals were found safe. They were Aslinda Bani, 38, her 11-year-old nephew, and an Indonesian maid in her 30s.
