KUALA LUMPUR: The late drummer of popular Malaysian rock group Search, Yazit Ahmad, was honoured during the band's Gemuruh concert at Zepp KL, here last night.

According to Berita Harian, Minister of Communications Fahmi Fadzil through his representative, Izhar Yusof, presented a donation of RM5,000 to the family of the legendary musician after a tribute segment to the late drummer.

Yazit's family, represented by his wife Ramlah Ahmad and third child Shafiqa Nurlis, also received RM5,000 from the concert organisers, Big Stage Entertainment, and redONE Mobile.

"Thank you for always being behind my father during his life. To all Search fans, no matter which group, continue to support them.

"I wish the best for everyone," said Syafiqa.

Yazit died at age 57 at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), here, on Sept 26, 2019.

He was reportedly admitted to the HKL emergency ward after complaining of shortness of breath and upon arrival at the hospital, his heart stopped and he was given respiratory assistance (CPR).

The two-hour-plus Gemuruh concert, saw singer Amir Masdi serving as vocalist together with guitarist, Noordin Mohd Taib (Din) and Hamzah Mohd Taib (Kid) performing 17 of Search's hit songs in front of about 2,000 fans.
