SINCE his emergence in the local entertainment scene in 2009, singer and actor Alvin Chong has been steadily making an impact.

The 32-year-old artiste, who also goes by the moniker ALVN, recently had a successful collaboration with South Korean singer-songwriter YOUHA through the hit single, 'onemorenight'.

Riding on the momentum, Chong released another song last month titled, 'over again'.

"The song 'over again' delves into the regret that follows impulsive actions, causing pain for both involved in the relationship.

"As time passes, the realisation sets in that the damage is irreversible.

"Despite this, the irresistible allure of the thrill compels a repetitive cycle, eventually leading to a point where one loses their sense of self," said Chong about the track.

TRYING SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Arranged and produced by Seatravel, the song is composed by Lew Jia Hao, Chaw Liang Xin, Jayson Teoh Xiong Phen, and Chai Shing Di, who also penned the lyrics.

As the song presented a different kind of feel for the Penang-born Chong, he was game to give it a try.

"Slow rock is a new genre that I have been wanting to try.

"The song 'over again' has a wide range of notes, starting off with super low baritones on the verses and eventually builds up to the chorus.

"I believe 'over again' should be fun when performed with a live band," he said.

After years of experience working with many talented individuals on various artistic projects, Chong was excited to share that the music video for this track was shot overseas.

No stranger to luxury brands, he made endorsements with the likes of BOSS, Dior and Dolce & Gabbana.

Chong is also known as a fashion-forward celebrity who represented Malaysia at the New York Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week in 2023.

SWISS CONNECTION

So it was no surprise that the music video to his new single saw the participation of international luxury brand Longines.

As friend of Longines for about two years now, Chong was invited to visit the Longines Heritage Museum in Switzerland, and was given an opportunity to film the music video there.

The result features moving and picturesque vistas that accompany his singing during the duration of the music video.

When it comes to his goals in writing and singing, Chong said that it is always to inspire people to share their stories and do what they love the most, instead of doing what people tell you to do.

When it comes to ALVN's goals in writing and singing, it is always to inspire people to share their stories and do what they love the most, instead of doing what people tell you to do. ALVN expresses that he is glad Longines believed in what he loves and has been supporting him for the last two years in his musical career.

Talking more on this new track, Chong said that it is also a sneak peek to his upcoming full-length album, which is set for release in the near future.

"We're still figuring out the concept and there are at least three more songs that I'm currently working on before we finalise things for the album," said Chong, who is signed to SomeDay Records under Universal Music Malaysia.

He also revealed that the music label is planning a tour for him sometime this year, so fans will have to stay tuned for updates.

Chong's 'over again' is currently available on all digital platforms and its accompanying music video can be viewed on YouTube.
