HULU SELANGOR: The battle for the Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat could be a three-cornered fight after an independent candidate turned up for nominations here today.

The independent candidate is, Nyau Ke Xin, a 29-year-old woman.

Nominations are still ongoing.

The other candidates for the seat, Pakatan Harapan's Pang Sock Tao and Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut arrived for nominations before 9am.

Both candidates were accompanied by leaders from their respective coalitions.

Pang, is the press secretary to Local Government and Development Minister Nga Kor Ming, while Khairul is the Hulu Selangor Bersatu acting division chief.

The May 11 by-election was triggered by the passing of the seat's three-term assemblyman Lee Kiong Hiong of the DAP.

In last year's Selangor state election, Lee won the seat for Pakatan Harapan in a four-cornered fight against candidates from PN, Muda and Parti Rakyat Malaysia.
