HULU SELANGOR: The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is shaping up into a multi-cornered fight after two more candidates were seen entering the nomination centre here this morning.

Chen Bong Lai, an independent candidate, and Hafizah Zainudin of Parti Rakyat Malaysia, were spotted entering the Hulu Selangor Sports Complex and Multipurpose Hall.

Earlier, 29-year-old Nyau Ke Xin, an independent candidate also turned up for nominations.

DAP and Pakatan Harapan (PH) are fielding Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming's press secretary, Pang Sock Tao, and Khairul Azhari Saut is Perikatan Nasional candidate for the by-election.

The nomination process for the by-election, which opened at 9am, is expected to conclude at 10am today.

Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election returning officer Yuhanas Auree Kamaruddin will announce the final list of candidates contesting in the by-election after the nomination process concludes.

The by-election is being called following the death of the seat's three-term assemblyman Lee Kiong Hiong of DAP.

In last year's Selangor state election, Lee won the seat for PH in a four-cornered fight against candidates from PN, Muda and Parti Rakyat Malaysia.
