KUALA LUMPUR: A 10-year-old boy died after slipping into a drain in Tebrau, Johor, during a fishing trip today.

Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Mohd Rashid Sulaiman said they received a distress call about the drowning victim at 3.30pm.

"Upon arrival at the scene, it was confirmed that a 10-year-old boy had fallen into a drain while fishing.

"The victim was found approximately 10 metres away from the reported falling location," he said.

He said the victim was confirmed dead at the scene and his remains were handed over to the police for further action.
