SERI ISKANDAR: A two-year-old boy was found drowned after falling into a lake near the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) mosque, here today.
It is understood that the incident occurred while the victim's family was waiting to perform prayers for the Zohor prayer.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of Operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said firemen from the Seri Iskandar Fire and Rescue Station were dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving an emergency call at 1.19pm.
"Information obtained from the family and the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the child was last seen near the lake.
"The department's underwater search and rescue team were also summoned to located the victim. At about 4.25pm, rescuers found his body about three meters from the banks.
"The victim's body was handed over to the police for further action," he said in a statement today.
