KUALA LUMPUR: Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani turned heroes when they delivered the third and winning point today in Chengdu, China to send Malaysia into their first Thomas Cup semi-finals in eight years.

Winless in all three encounters against Akira Koga-Taichi Saito, Sze Fei-Izzuddin defied the odds to win the second doubles duel 18-21, 21-14, 21-12.

Having earned the unassailable 3-1 lead, the match between Justin Hoh and Kento Momota will not be contested.

The last time Malaysia made it to last four was in 2016.
