IPOH: Firemen battling a fire near the Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Tanjung Rambutan, here today made a shocking discovery when they found a human hand, severed at the wrist.

The body part was found along the roadside after they had put out the fire.

It is understood that prior to the fire, a fight had broken out between a number of people at the location. The car was then set ablaze.

Tambun Fire and Rescue Department chief, Mohd Jamalludin Mat Yusop, said the department were alerted to the fire at 11.16am. A team of firemen arrived at the scene eight minutes later.

Nine firemen battled the blaze and fully extinguished it at 11.49am.

He said the fire involved a Toyota Vios sedan, which was 95 per cent destroyed. The firemen were unable to ascertain the registration plate due to the extensive damage.

Also nearby were a Proton Saga and a Honda Accord, which the authorities believe were involved in a collision earlier.

"The case has been handed over to the police for further action," he said when contacted today.
