ROMPIN: Two people were found dead in a locked car in the parking area of a petrol station along Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Muadzam Shah, here, today.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said the dead bodies belonging to a male and female were found in the driver's seat, and front passenger seat.

He said the Muadzam Shah fire station received a distress call about 4.10pm and despatched six foremen to the petrol station.

"Firemen noticed two people unconscious inside the car parked at the parking area. Firemen pried open the car door using rescue tools.

"Once the door was open, the medical team went to provide immediate aid before they confirmed the duo were dead," he said in a statement.

Zulfadli said police were alerted about the incident and the remains were handed over to them.

Meanwhile, Rompin police chief Deputy Superintendent Nor Azman Yusof said the police forensics team were investigating the scene and a press statement will be issued later.
