ROMPIN: There is no evidence of foul play following the discovery of two bodies inside a locked car in the parking area of a petrol station along Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Muadzam Shah, here, yesterday.

Rompin police chief Deputy Superintendent Nor Azman Yusof said the bodies belonged to a 41-year-old male who was the car driver and a 43-year-old female, who was seated next to him.

"The Muadzam Shah police station received a call from the petrol station staff yesterday informing about the discovery of two bodies inside a car. Investigations at the surroundings found no criminal elements involved and the victims personal belongings were still inside the car.

"The closed-circuit television camera footage at the petrol station revealed the victim arrived at the premises and parked his car about 6.42am on Monday (Feb 26). Both the victims did not step out of the vehicle," he said in a statement today.

Azman said both the bodies were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan for post mortem examination and the case has been classified as sudden death.

It is learnt that the relationship between the two victims has yet to be determined and it remains unclear where the duo were travelling prior to their stop at the petrol station.

Azman urged members of the public not to make any speculation over the incident and those with information on the incident to contact the Rompin district police headquarters at 09-4145999.

It was reported yesterday, firemen pried open the locked car door using rescue tools about 4.10pm before the medical team confirmed the duo were dead.
