Taking his family's grief to Facebook, Syed Abdul Hafiz Syed Mustapa said he accepted the loss of his second child, Syed Hafizul Najmi on Hari Raya Aidilfitri, a day after getting involved in a crash near Kampung Gunung Sali here, as God's will.
"Allah is the Most knowledgeable, the most gracious and the most merciful. This memory will live forever.
"First day of Syawal, Allah invited my second child Syed Hafizul Najmi to return to Him. Thank you Allah.
"My eldest child Syed Nabil Imran and my third child Sharifah Nurul Humairah survived the incident. My family has accepted God's will," he said in the post.
Hafiz said he would always remember Hafizul or Pijol, as the victim was fondly called in the family, as a filial, pious and independent child.
He thanked the public, particularly villagers of Kampung Gunung Sali who rushed to rescue the siblings who were trapped in the car they were travelling after the vehicle crashed and plunged into an irrigation canal.
The father of four said all of his children were very close to each other as well as their mother.
"In a blink of an eye, everything changed," he said.
The Alor Star Umno division deputy chief also called for well-wishers to pray for Hafizul and to pray for his family to be granted strength during this difficult period.
"Thank you to all family members and friends who keep on sending their prayers, those who have isited us and those who have contacted me to extend their condolences.
"Our family prays that Allah bless and protect everyone. Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri. Maaf, zahir dan batin," he said.
In the Hari Raya eve crash, the three siblings were travelling in a Proton Iswara when the car was involved in an accident before plunging into the irrigation canal near Kampung Gunung Sali.
It was reported that villagers and passers-by rescued the siblings by pulling them out from the vehicle.
One of the firefighters who rushed to the scene gave Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to Hafizul who was in a critical condition.
He was rushed to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for further treatment but succumbed to his injuries a day later.
