KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians continue to rally behind the national doubles pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, who lost 3-1 to China in the Thomas Cup semi-finals on Saturday.

The comment section of NST Online's Facebook post on the semi-finals result was flooded with messages from social media users, who offered words of encouragement to Chia and Wooi Yik despite the outcome of yesterday's match.

Yu Siow Pei wrote: "Good fight. Good effort from the team. Stay positive... Well done Malaysian team."

Mark David shared the same sentiments when he wrote: "The doubles pair put up a good fight. We can be proud of that."

Abu Hassan Md Isa wrote: "Congratulations. All of you have tried your best. Great to reach semi final. All the very best in your future games or tournaments".

Muthu Veerapan wrote: "Good effort but really need a miracle to defeat China in China. Expected result in the end."

Kanna Dasan pointed out there is a need to carry out 'overhaul' to strengthen the team before the next edition of the tournament.

"Anyhow, heartiest congratulations to the Malaysian team for reaching the semi finals. But an overhaul is badly needed to strengthen the squad before the start of the next edition to the end the long awaiting title drought.

"Malaysia Boleh. Malaysiaku Bangkit," wrote the social media user.

It was reported that the Malaysian team, in their first semi-finals in eight years, lost 3-1 to host China at the Hi-Tech Zone Sports Centre in Chengdu.
