KUALA LUMPUR: A one minute-and-32 second video clip of several men confronting a KK Mart staff purportedly recorded in a Batu Pahat outlet was circulated on social media.

The exchange among others revolves around a man who introduced himself as a Muslim customer to a woman, supposedly a KK Mart staff.

"I spoke to your manager; we want to make sure that this issue doesn't happen again," one of the men was heard saying.

This was following reports of photos of the socks being sold at a KK Supermart in Bandar Sunway, drawing criticisms from social media users and prompting calls for boycott against the chain.

KK Mart has since issued an apology and conducted checks on its outlets nationwide, of which three of them were found to have the socks on display.

A 40-man police team yesterday visited the Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd factory and seized five pairs of the controversial socks found with the word "Allah" printed on them.

Police have advised the public against taking matters into their own hands when dealing with the issue of socks bearing the word Allah.

Batu Pahat police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah urged those with information on the sales of such products to report the matter to the police to facilitate investigation.

"I would like to advise individuals or NGOs (non-govermental organisations) against acting arbitrarily; the authorities are also monitoring (the issue)," he told the New Straits Times.
