JOHOR BARU: The Johor State Sports Council (MSNJ) has unveiled two innovative programmes named 'Sports Connoisseur' and 'The Heroes Alma Mater Sukma Johor', aimed at elevating the state's sporting spirit and nurturing a culture of athletic excellence, Media Digital Johor reported.

The 'Sports Connoisseur' programme is designed to be a platform for Johor-born athletes representing the country, appointed as sports icons of MSNJ to inspire local athletes and promote sports awareness among the community.

For this initiative, national cycling athlete Shah Firdaus Shahrom and national netball player Nurfariha Abdul Razak have been chosen by the High Council Committee of MSNJ as sports icons.

Additionally, 'The Heroes Alma Mater SukmaJohor' programme will gather the finest athletes from Johor and Sukma Johor alumni who meet certain criteria. This programme is set to create a community of past and present sports champions, celebrating their achievements and fostering a network of mentors and role models for upcoming athletes.

These introductions follow the launch of the 'Sukma 2024: The Next Chapter' programme by Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the Chief Minister of Johor. The programme is part of the early preparations for the Johor contingent to defend its championship title at the biennial Sukma (Malaysia Games).
