KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims at relief centres in Terengganu and Kelantan has decreased to 24,508 as of 2pm today.

The number was at 25,208 at noon.

The Terengganu Disaster Management Committee secretariat in a social media post today said that 15,665 flood victims from 4,096 families remain at 71 relief centres.

The committee said 19 relief centres in Kemaman are currently housing 7,726 evacuees from 1,960 families.

"There are 3,999 victims from 1,016 families in 18 centres in Hulu Terengganu, 2,696 victims from 792 families in 23 relief centres in Dungun, and 451 people from 117 families placed at three relief centres in Kuala Terengganu.

"While in Kuala Nerus, currently four relief centres are occupied by 438 victims from 125 families and 348 people from 85 families in three relief centres at Besut since yesterday.

"There are also seven people from one family occupying one relief centre in Setiu," said the post.

The National Disaster Command Centre (NDCC) said currently there are 8,853 flood victims from 2,910 families being sheltered at 28 flood relief centres across Kelantan.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) had forecasted rain in several areas within Kelantan this week, starting from today.

While in Terengganu, MetMalaysia forecasted that there could be rain in a few places starting tomorrow.
