SUBANG JAYA: A television news presenter has given his statement to the police, following a complaint made in a letter-to-the-editor over the alleged rude conduct of a policeman on patrol.

The complainant showed up at the SS17 Subang Jaya police station at around 10.50pm last night as requested and left at 1.15am.

"The police showed up at my house around 8pm to 9pm yesterday, requesting that I record my statement at the SS17 police station.

"The police insisted I follow them (to the police station), but I could not (follow) as I was working," he told the New Straits Times after his statement was recorded.

However, he said, after some discussion, they agreed to leave and allowed him to provide his statement later after completing his work.

He said approximately 20 questions were posed during the questioning session.

In the letter published on Saturday, the television presenter alleged that the incident took place last Tuesday when he was returning home after completing his midnight news programme.

One of the two policemen patrolling his residential area in Subang Jaya displayed unprofessional behaviour and was rude and arrogant during the inspection, he claimed.

On Sunday, Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the two policemen from the motorcycle patrol unit (URB) involved during the inspection had performed their duties according to police guidelines.

He said both have also lodged police reports over claims that were highlighted by the television presenter, in his 30s, via a letter to the-editor that was published.

Wan Azlan added that the reports were lodged as the policemen felt that the claims made against them were not true and that it had affected the image of the country's police force, especially Subang Jaya police.
