PETALING JAYA: A Filipino couple using fake identity cards to work for over 10 years were nabbed in an operation in Kota Damansara, here, yesterday.
The National Registration Department (NRD) enforcement division officer said the husband and wife were believed to have entered the country through Johor Baru in 2006.
"Both suspects, who are from the Philippines, are believed to have purchased the fake identity cards for approximately RM350 to RM500.
"The couple used the fake identity cards to seek employment. They have previously worked at a soap factory in Johor and are currently working as security guards."
The couple has five children, all of whom are Filipino citizens aged between 18 and 33.
The 6pm operation was carried out based on intelligence gathered by the department's enforcement division.
"Both suspects can be charged under Regulation 25 (1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990. If convicted, they can be imprisoned for up to three years or fined up to RM20,000, or both."
