KOTA KINABALU: A 37-year-old woman was arrested by the police for possessing fake firearms at a premises in Papar town at 2.30pm yesterday.

Sabah CID chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Azmi Abd Rahim said the raiding team seized 12 various types of fake firearms.

"Among them are the Automatic Rifle M416, Airsoft Gun Combat Master, Airsoft Gun Glock, Airsoft Gun 731B, M17, C11, and Airsoft Gun C.1.

"Seven bottles containing various types and colours of bullets were also seized," he said when contacted today.

Azmi said further investigation found that the suspect admitted to being involved in the possession of fake firearms.

"The suspect also admitted she did not know the offence of possessing and selling fake firearms.

"However, possessing fake firearms remains a legal offence regardless of the reason.

"I also want to remind everyone not to make any excuses for possessing fake firearms because it is still illegal," he said.

He added that the suspect and the seized items were taken to the Papar District Police Headquarters for further action.

"The case is being investigated under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960," said Azmi.
