KAJANG: Six individuals were arrested by police on suspicion of being involved in the sale of fake medical leave certificates in this area last week.

All suspects, four women and two men aged between 26 and 51, were apprehended in raids in Kajang and Bukit Jalil here on Dec 8 and 9.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said an investigation was conducted by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Kajang police headquarters after receiving reports related to the sale of fake medical leave certificates.

"As a result of the investigation, the team successfully identified and arrested the suspects in two separate raids. The investigation also found that the suspects were selling these fake medical leave certificates at prices ranging from RM30 to RM50," he said in a statement today.

Mohd Zaid said that during the raids, the police also seized six medical leave certificate books, 171 government medical leave certificates, 70 private medical leave certificates, 19 clinic receipts, a laptop and eight mobile phones.

He said the group is suspected to have been actively selling fake medical leave certificates to customers around Kajang for the past year.

He added that all suspects were remanded for five days starting from Dec 9 for investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
