BUKIT MERTAJAM: A strong bond of friendship proved to be the key to the success of three friends, all of whom scored straight A's in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

Shivaprakash Selvakumar, Shaikh Shameer Shaik Muhamed Raja and Giovanni Andrei Saw Ye-Jeune were firmly in the spotlight when they collected their SPM results at the SMK Tinggi Bukit Mertajam today.

Shivaprakash was the toast of the trio, scoring straight A+.

Their "1Malaysia friendship" started since secondary school and the boys, all aged 18, were over the moon upon receiving their results today around 11.30am.

"We always compete with each other during school examination. We hold group studies after school to discuss our weaker subjects and topics.

"We always help each other to get better marks and have positive competition among us all the time," said Shameer.

Shivaprakash aims to become an anesthesiologist, Shameer a dentist and Saw wishes to become a neurologist.

All three chose the medical field to pursue their studies and attributed their achievement to their respective parents.
