JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested three men and a woman in Mersing today to assist investigations into the murder of Estonian model Regina Soosalu.

The suspects, aged between 24 and 27, are now in police custody.

Johor police in a statement today, confirmed the arrests of the new suspects pending investigations.

The statement also added that from July 13 to today, police have release three other suspects after their statements were recorded.

Two men from the initial arrest have remained as suspects pending investigations.

This brings the total of suspects to six.

On July 9, police re-classified Soosalu's death as murder due to wound consistent with assault found on her body.

Earlier, police had initially thought the model, who is in her late 20s, had drowned on July 1.

Seven men, including a member of royalty, were detained for questioning over Soosalu’s death.

Meanwhile, Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Hasnan Hassan said they had not set any date to return Soosalu’s body to the family as investigations into her death were still ongoing and urged the public not to speculate on the case.

"The public should not speculate as any posting on websites or on social media sites such as Facebook can jeopardise police investigations.

"I advise the public, especially those who have strong leads about the case, to instead come forward and assist police in investigations," he said.
