KUALA LUMPUR: Konsert Journey Awie at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on Aug 3 will be Datuk Awie's last solo concert.

The Wings lead singer said in an interview yesterday that he had decided to call it a day as a solo artiste to spend more time with his loved ones.

"All these years I have put my career before my family. I couldn't even find the time to attend my children's graduations," he said.

"This gradually made me think, when will I start to spend quality time with them?

"And can't I just act and sing for my band Wings?"

Hitting the four-decade mark as a recording artiste this year appears to be "just the right time" for Awie to reduce his stage shows for good.

"My children understand the demands of my work.

"I have to be away from them for days and fully focus on giving music lovers a rocking good time.

"But nothing beats spending time with them and catching up with them.

"God has blessed me with good health, so as long as I am in good health I must start to be a father to my children," said Awie.
