BENTONG: Two Chinese nationals were killed, and several others were injured after a tour bus landed on its side while travelling downhill at Km16.5 of Jalan Genting-Bentong today.

The two male victims, who died on the spot, were believed to have been trapped in their seats during the 10.40am accident.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department deputy director (operations) Ismail Abdul Ghani said initial investigations revealed that two people died while 19 others – 16 Chinese nationals and three locals – were injured.

"Firefighters arrived at the scene at 10.57am. Two passengers were trapped in the vehicle while the others suffered light injuries and managed to exit the bus.

"Twenty firefighters from the Genting Highlands, Bentong, and Genting volunteer fire departments were deployed to assist at the scene," he said in a statement.

Ismail said the tour bus was ferrying 11 men and seven women, all Chinese nationals, along with three local men during the mishap.
