KUALA LUMPUR: Rock legend Datuk Awie's next solo concert will be his final one.

Awie, 56, whose real name is Datuk Ahmad Azhar Osman said in an interview with Berita Harian yesterday that his solo concert titled Journey at the World Trade Centre KL (WTCKL) on Aug 3 will mark the end of his three-decade solo career.

"I have discussed this with my bandmates in Wings and they have all agreed that it will be my last.

"But as a band we will continue to rock for a good nine years till we call it a day," said Awie, adding that his band would be marking its 40th anniversary next year.

Awie said that Journey which is organised by Truepixel Sdn Bhd and Rumah Produksi Merah will be a run-up to Wings' 40th anniversary and will solely focus on his solo career.

"I will be sharing lots of interesting stories about my musical journey in monologues, sketches and gimmicks. There won't be any guest artistes but there might be guest stars for the sketches," said Awie, adding that scenes of his past solo concerts will appear on a big screen.

Journey will be held at the Star Theatre in Singapore on July 27 before heading to WTCKL on Aug 3.
