KUALA LUMPUR: Asian squash champion Ng Eain Yow warded off a strong challenge from Mexican Cesar Salazar before reaching the second round of the El Gouna Open in Egypt on Friday.

The world No. 16 Malaysian, who won the German Open last week, came back from a set down to win 11-13, 11-5, 11-7, 11-2 in 51 minutes.

Eain Yow will face Gregoire Marche of France in the third round.

The Azman sisters, Aifa and Aira, also advanced into the second round. World No. 34 Aifa beat homester Nour Aboulmakarim 13-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-8.

The younger Aifa, ranked 41st in the world, defeated Egyptian Hana Ramadan 11-5, 11-5, 9-11, 12-10.

World No. 28 and national No. 2 Rachel Arnold came back from a set down to beat England's Alicia Mead 8-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-8 to set up a date with world No. 1 Nour El Sherbini of Egypt.

World No. 13 S. Sivasangari received a first round bye and will face Egypt's world No. 3 and second seed Nouran Gohar in the second round on Saturday,
