KUALA LUMPUR: Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) deputy president Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi wants the concerned national sports associations (NSAs) to pay their dues from the Indonesia Asian Games which took place in August last year.

Abdul Azim, who was also the Chef de Mission (CDM) for the Games, said the associations involved are those who registered their athletes under category B (self-funded).

“There are associations involved, two have settled their payments, two have paid the advance while one more has not even paid anything.

“So I really hope these associations will contact us soon,” said Abdul Azim after the OCM executive board meeting earlier today (Tuesday).

Abdul Azim, who declined to reveal as to who the associations are, said the overall dues amounted to RM500,000.

In order not to face similar issues ahead of the Philippines Sea Games this year, all associations who are registering their athletes under category B, will have to settle their payments in full.

“The NSAs will have to put up a 50 per cent deposit and settle the remainder before we leave for the Philippines.

“This is the hard lesson we learnt from the Asian Games. When you let them be, they don't pay you back,” Azim added.
