KUALA LUMPUR: The pairing of Pandelela Rinong and Nur Dhabitah Sabri is yielding results when they managed to place fourth in the women’s 10m synchronised platform event at the FINA Diving World Series which began in Sagamihara, Japan earlier today (Friday).

In the first FINA Diving World Series at the Sagamihara Green Pool, the national pair carried out four early dives to take fifth place before they pipped Mexican duo Alejandra Orozco Loza-Gabriela Agundez Garcia in their final dive to move up to fourth after amassing 302.64 points, just 4.26 points ahead of the Mexicans.

In that event, China as expected continued to dominate thanks to Zhang Jiaqi-Lu Wi who took the gold after posting 340.44 points, followed by North Korea’s Kim A Rim-Kim Mi Rae who raked up 319.50 points, with Canada’s Caeli McKay-Meaghan Benfeito taking third spot with 311.70 points.

Pandelela has been paired up with Dhabitah as her usual partner Cheong Jun Hoong could not compete as she is still recovering from a nagging knee injury.

Dhabitah however will be competing in another event, the women’s 3m synchronised springboard event together with 17-year-old Kimberly Bong which takes place today (Friday) as well.
