KUALA LUMPUR: Five Malaysian weightlifters have been banned for four years for doping.

The Malaysia Weightlifting Federation (MWF) have decided to punish 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Hafifi Mansor, 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Mohamad Fazrul Azrie Mohdad, Muhammad Hakimie Haikal Nordin, Muhamad Zaidi Mohd Nordin and Ronny Jesos.

MWF president Datuk Ayub Rahmat said the five have been given a chance to defend themselves, and were found guilty.

"These athletes have been banned and will not be able to take part in any (weightlifting) activities throughout the duration of their ban," said Ayub.
