KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Body Building Federation (MBBF) have denied allegations that they are covering for athletes who are guilty of using banned substances from being discovered by the Malaysian Anti-Doping Agency (ADAMAS) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

MBBF honorary secretary, Kamaruzaman Kadir said that they have always cooperated with all parties in ensuring that negative elements do not fester among national athletes.

“As mentioned, whoever is found to test positive will face stern action. We have never covered for any athlete who has consumed banned substances.

“We will always take the necessary action. We will inform ADAMAS and ADAMAS will in turn alert WADA,” said Kamaruzaman when met at the Sungai Besi Lakeside Sports Complex here earlier today (Wednesday).

When asked if there are any body building athletes who have competed while still being suspended, Kamaruzaman replied that only Sazali Samad has do so.

“Up to now, the one who we see very clearly is Sazali, going out to the world when even outsiders know and have informed us and made queries about the matter, and if there is such an act happening, then we will take action,” stressed Kamaruzaman.

Speaking on the controversy regarding Sazali’s participation in the China Sport Show Fearless Bodybuilding Physique & Bikini competition in Shanghai, China recently, Kamaruzaman explained that it should not have happened in the first place.

“According to WADA’s 10.2.1 rule, while suspended he cannot be involved in any way with any competition, show and so on, so forth.

“However he has broken the rules, and a suspension has been handed to him. WADA would have added to the suspension but we will inform them soon,” said Kamaruzaman who informed that a decision on Sazali’s case is expected to be announced sometime soon.
