KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia were made to look like schoolboys once again in the 7-2 thrashing by reigning Olympic champions Argentina in their third friendly match in Buenos Aires on Sunday.

Argentina lead the series of six matches with 1-0 and 6-1 wins in the opening friendlies

Joaquin Menini (first and 14th minutes) and Nicolas Della Torre (sixth and 27th) scored a brace each while Tomas Domene (ninth), Juan Gilardo (35th) and Pedro Ibarra (37th) completed the rout for World No 2Argentina.

World No 12 Malaysia netted through Haziq Samsul (fifth) and Azri Hassan (45th).

“Argentina played a physical game. They used this to their advantage while we were slow at the start of the match,” said national coach Stephen Van Huizen.

“We need to learn how to win more of the 50-50 balls. Basically, we were slow to react when they were attacking.

“We also could not convert our chances while they took theirs.”

The fourth friendly is on Wednesday.
