KUALA LUMPUR: Fans hoping to see Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah clinching back-to-back wins in the Asia Road Racing Championships (ARRC) will have to wait as race two at the Zhuhai International Circuit (round two) scheduled for today has been cancelled.

FIM Asia, in a statement released today, said the race had to be cancelled due to a typhoon warning issued by the local meteorological observatory.

"The Municipal Meteorological Observatory has upgraded the yellow warning signal of rainstorm to orange at 10am, while retaining the yellow warning signal of thunderstorm and gale, which calls for suspension of outdoor work and activities," said FIM Asia.

"Our partners and teams regret to announce the cancellation. However, priority is given to the safety of riders, teams and the workforce of ARRC. We apologise for the inconvenience caused."

Hafizh won race one in the ASB1000 category at Zhuhai yesterday, giving Johor Darul Ta'zim Racing Team its maiden victory in the ARRC series.

The third round of championships will be held at Motegi, Japan, from June 7 to 9.
