KUALA LUMPUR: Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah has sweet memories of the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, and Malaysia’s MotoGP rider is hoping that the newest addition to the World Championship calendar, the Thailand Grand Prix (GP) will be able to give him an added tonic for this weekend’s race.

Earlier this year, the Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider carried out his first test of the MotoGP-Yamaha YZR-M1 machine and it was a positive experience.

“I am eager to race competitively in Buriram as it is also the beginning of the rounds in Asia before the season ender in Valencia, Spain.

“During the previous two to three races I was struggling. We know that we are facing a difficult situation with Yamaha, so I am hoping very much that they will be able to do something to allow us to have a good chance of competing to get the best possible result.

“I am hoping to do really well so as to return to a position where I am able to score points. I believe in our ability as a team, and therefore we will be working very hard and not throw in the towel just like that.”

Hafizh is now in 18th place overall in the riders’ standings with 24 points in the premier class with only four rounds remaining to the season.

In the rookie charts, Hafizh is second, seven points behind Italian Franco Morbidelli who rides for Honda Racing Corporation’s (HRC) satellite team EG 0,0 Marc VDS.
