KUALA LUMPUR: A. Arul Selvaraj has yet to reapply to continue as the national hockey coach, with four days left for candidates to submit their CVs.

Arul's contract expired on Jan 21 after Malaysia failed at the Olympic Qualifiers in Muscat, Oman.

He resubmitted a detailed report on his team's shortcomings, which resulted in Malaysia not securing a Paris Olympic berth, on Feb 8.

Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) coaching committee Datuk Majid Manjit Abdullah disclosed that eight candidates have applied for the national coaching job.

"Two are locals, while the rest are foreigners. We will screen through the candidates after the closing date on Feb 16," said Majid.

The coaching committee were not satisfied with Arul's first report, submitted on Feb 5 as it was incomplete. They requested him to resubmit it.
