KUALA LUMPUR: Coach A. Arul Selvaraj's report on the national men's team failure in the Olympic Qualifier in Muscat, Oman, last month, was incomplete.

This has led to the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) Coaching Committee asking Arul to resubmit his report.

Datuk Majid Manjit Abdullah, who chaired a Coaching Committee meeting today, said they went through Arul's report.

"But we found that Arul's report was incomplete. It only mentioned about their failure in the Olympic Qualifier in Muscat.

"We want a more detailed report with analysis of matches, the players' performances in every match and their fitness level in matches.

"We want a lengthy report from Arul on their outing in the Hangzhou Asian Games last October.

"We want him to submit another report of what transpired after the Asian Games until the Olympic Qualifier.

"And on what the players had been doing in training in preparation for the Olympic Qualifier.

"In the report, Arul did not give any suggestion on which players need to be dropped due to age or what things need to be changed for the betterment of the national hockey team.

"We have given Arul seven days to resubmit his report," said Majid.

Malaysia have failed to qualify for the Olympics for the last 24 years.

Arul set a target for the Speedy Tigers to win gold at the Asian Games and book a ticket to the Paris Olympics, but his men finished a disappointing sixth in Hangzhou.

In the Olympic Qualifier, Arul set a top two target, but world No. 12 Malaysia were beaten 3-2 by world No. 23 China and 4-1 by world No. 4 Great Britain before drawing 3-3 with Pakistan.
